SPORT SCIENCES SCHOOL OF RIO MAIOR
ESDRM is one of the Instituto Politécnico de Santarém schools, specialized in training, research and service provision in the sports field.
As a public higher education institution, with social responsibilities, it is our duty to inform and share, with internal and external community, information about the different activities developed over time.
Produce, apply and disseminate knowledge in the sports science field. Provide training, based on solid scientific, technological and pedagogical basis knowledge and with a high experimental relationship to the different professional sport contexts, aiming, through human cultural training, scientific and technical knowledge of its students, national and international, and community service, contributing for sports technical and scientific development and the region socio-economic progress, in an international competitiveness panorama.
At the Sport Training bachelor and master, where we have the Football specialization, with more then 200 students, study to be football professionals coaches in the different areas, as football coaches, physical coaches, games analyst, goalkeeper coaches. For a better development of the entire contents, there are a Football Office called FootESDRM, that has 3 big areas 1) TEACHING; 2) COMMUNITY SERVICES and 3) RESEARCH.
1) TEACHING: The main focus is to promote the same culture, principles and values. Enhance inter-disciplinarity, adapt teaching methods and instill sharing, innovation, proactivity;
2) COMMUNITY SERVICES: Promote partnerships and protocols with Portuguese Federation, associations, clubs, city councils and entities abroad. In the scope of consultancy, training of coaches, training actions and short courses;
3) RESEARCH: As an area to be developed in ESDRM, in the Football, we involve students in the PhD activities of some professors, as well as take advantage of Master and Degree students.
